I am for real

I actually have a card! :) My first real job and it feels right. Migrant Workers' Rights, "Labour Migration" - it is my niche here and at home and it feels fantastic to finally decide the field I plan on working on indefinitely. I am working on so many fantastic projects here: including training goverment officials from 6 Mekong Countries (China, Vietnam, Burma, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand) on labour migration management, conducting research on special economic zones, advocacy to protect migrant workers against labour violations, including domestic workers and surveying government abuse which violate's migrants basic liberty rights to travel and property (they are legally not allowed to own or use mobile phones in the South, not allowed to own motorbikes, etcetera).

I feel blessed to be part of a fantatic staff who works to include me in their amazing ongoing work and who appreciates my contributions. I am learning so much but also feel useful--- which means i finally defeated my perpetual feeling of uselessness that drove me to law school. But I am also living a balanced life here which means avoiding burnout while still being effective, something that i felt was virtually impossible in law school.

So let me keep my fingers crossed. ;0
